Site Reliability Engineer
About Aditude:
We're really, really into ad ops tech (really). At Aditude we want to help our publishers maximize revenue and make their lives easier with smarter, faster, more innovative, more customized technology. In 2023, we raised 15 million in Series A funding led by Volition Capital allowing us to add to our team and further our mission of helping publishers do what they do better. With over 1600 sites and apps using our tech, we currently have over 1 trillion ads served to date, and over 1 billion ad impressions daily. With the recent acquisition of Hashtag Labs, we only expect this number to continue to grow exponentially. We are looking for team members who are obsessed with supporting our publishers, who default to action, and who enjoy solving complex problems. If that sounds like you, we are excited to connect!
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Senior Reliability & Performance Engineer who obsesses over code quality, performance, and robustness. You’ll be the guardian of our codebase’s health, transforming rapid prototypes into bulletproof, revenue-critical systems while maintaining lean, efficient code. This role is perfect for someone who gets satisfaction from shaving milliseconds off load times and turning fragile features into rock-solid foundations.
Some challenges you'll tackle:
- Optimize & Refactor: Analyze existing TypeScript/JavaScript codebases to identify performance bottlenecks, reduce bundle sizes, and improve algorithmic efficiency (Big O optimization)
- Strengthen System Reliability: Implement comprehensive error handling, monitoring, and recovery mechanisms across our ad serving infrastructure
- Transform MVPs into Production Systems: Take revenue-generating experiments and “hacks” from our fast-moving product teams and architect them into scalable, maintainable solutions
- Code Quality Champion: Establish and maintain documentation standards, create performance benchmarks, and build tooling to measure and improve code quality metrics
- Proactive Problem Solving: Independently identify technical debt, performance issues, and reliability risks before they impact revenue
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with product engineering teams to review their implementations, provide optimization guidance, and ensure new features meet our performance standards
The skillset:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong TypeScript expertise (JavaScript proficiency acceptable)
- Deep understanding of JavaScript runtime performance, memory management, and bundle optimization techniques
- Demonstrated experience with performance profiling, optimization, and monitoring in production environments
- Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity
- Excellence in error handling patterns, defensive programming, and building resilient systems
- Self-directed work style with ability to navigate large codebases independently and identify improvement opportunities
- Passion for clean, well-documented code that balances elegance with pragmatism
Nice to have:
- Ad tech industry experience, particularly with programmatic advertising, RTB, or ad serving infrastructure
- Understanding of web advertising mechanics (Google Tag Manager, Prebid.js, A/B tests, viewability, etc.)
- Experience with performance optimization in high-throughput, low-latency environments
- Familiarity with modern build tools and optimization techniques (webpack, tree shaking, code splitting)
- Track record of improving system reliability metrics and reducing incident rates
Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay, we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.
Why join Aditude:
- Salary: In this role, you’ll receive a competitive base salary in addition to bonus potential.
- 100% remote with a global footprint
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Unlimited Time Off + 11 Holidays + Christmas week to recharge
- Opportunity to join a fast growing technology company!
